Women's Cross Country Holds No. 29 Spot in USTFCCCA Rankings

USTFCCCA Release

HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Haverford College women's cross country team held its position as the No. 29 team in the second regular season poll released by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association. The Fords held their position as the fourth ranked team and gained four more voting points in the national poll despite not changing their overall position.

The Fords' latest ranking comes after the team won the Division III race over Swarthmore at the Main Line Invitational. In that meet, the Fords had the top three finishers of the Division III race with Nicole Giannetti, Amelia Keyser-Gibson, and Katie Sullivan. The Fords also had seven of the top nine finishers with first year runners sweeping the sixth through eighth positions in the race.

The Mideast Region continues to have four teams ranked nationally with the preseason order yet to change in the early weeks of competition. Johns Hopkins continues its reign at No. 1 nationally with six first-place votes. Another Centennial Conference competitor, Dickinson, is second in the poll as the Red Devils held at No. 16 nationally. Elizabethtown is the only Mideast team outside of the Centennial Conference to be ranked. The Blue Jays dropped one spot to No. 23 in this week's release.

Women's cross country will have the upcoming weekend away from competition, but will have a chance to run against some of the best teams in the region during next weekend's Dickinson Long/Short Invitational. In addition to the host Red Devils, Elizabethtown is also scheduled to compete at that meet. The Dickinson Long/Short Race is set for Saturday, September 30 with the starting gun to go off at 11 a.m.
