Women's Cross Country Ranked 30th Heading into Dickinson Meet

USTFCCCA Release

HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Haverford College women's cross country team checked in at No. 30 in the third regular season poll released by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association. The Fords are down one spot in the national poll despite receiving the same number of voting points after having this past weekend away from competition. Haverford held its position as the fourth ranked team in the region.

The Mideast Region continues to have four teams ranked nationally with the preseason order yet to change in the early weeks of competition. Johns Hopkins continues its reign at No. 1 nationally with six first-place votes. Another Centennial Conference competitor, Dickinson, is second in the poll and continued its rise with an eight spot jump to No. 8 nationally. Elizabethtown is the only Mideast team outside of the Centennial Conference to be ranked. The Blue Jays kept their No. 22 ranking this week.

Haverford was last in action when the Fords won the Division III race over Swarthmore at the Main Line Invitational. In that meet, the Fords had the top three finishers of the Division III race with Nicole Giannetti, Amelia Keyser-Gibson, and Katie Sullivan. The Fords also had seven of the top nine finishers with first year runners sweeping the sixth through eighth positions in the race.

Women's cross country will return to action this Saturday when the team travels to Dickinson for the Long/Short Invitational. That meet, which will be held at the same site as the Mideast Regional, will get underway at 11 a.m. Both Dickinson and Elizabethtown are expected to take part in this weekend's meet with the Fords.
