Haverford, Pa. – Nicole Giannetti has been named to the Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Team for the second straight season to cap her outstanding cross country career. The teams are voted on by the sports information offices of the 30 area institutions from the Philadelphia metropolitan area.

In order to be eligible for Academic All-Area honors, an athlete must be in at least his or her second year at the institution and hold a cumulative grade-point average of 3.20 or better.

The Fords' senior captain capped her decorated cross country career as a three-time NCAA qualifier, two-time All-Mideast Region performer, and two-time second-team All-Centennial Conference selection. Giannetti is currently a three-time USTFCCCA All-Academic Performer and is expected to earn that same recognition once again this fall. She was also named the Centennial Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Year following her junior season and was named to the conference's academic honor roll during each of her three eligible seasons.

One of the seniors who helped lead the Fords back to the NCAA Division III Championships during each of the past three seasons, Giannetti's best finish at the national meet came in 2016 when she placed 135th overall in the field. That was the same season she placed a career-best 29th at the Mideast Regional. Giannetti turned in the best Centennial Conference Championship performance of her career this fall with a 10th place showing.

Giannetti is joined on the Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Women's Cross Country team by Villanova's Bella Burda, Swarthmore's Irina Bukharin, Temple's Millie Howard, Rowan's Jennifer Klavens, West Chester's Amanda Kodis, and Saint Joseph's Cassidy Weimer.
