HAVERFORD, Pa. - Haverford women's cross country sophomore Katie Hirsche has been selected to the Philadelphia Sports Information Directors Association (PhillySIDA) Academic All-Area team, the organization announced on Tuesday.

To be nominated, student-athletes need to have at least a 3.30 cumulative GPA and have completed at least one full year of classes at their current institution. The team is voted on by the sports information offices of more than 30 area institutions from the Philadelphia metropolitan area.

Hirsche, a Washington, D.C. product, earned the prestigious academic award after a standout season in which she was also named to All-Metro Region honors and First-team All-Centennial Conference designation. Hirsche finished the 6K course at the NCAA Championships last month in 23:50.7, good for 155th place overall. Hirsche joins fellow Division III Metro Region runners Gabby Nye (Performer of the Year) from Widener, Rachel Conhoff (Ursinus), and Rose Teszler (Swarthmore). Hirsche was the only sophomore to earn a slot on the team this season.

Last season, a pair of seniors, Izzy Miller and Angie Petrichenko, picked up the PhillySIDA award after earning All-America honors, with Miller taking home Philly-SIDA Academic All-Area Performer of the Year award in 2021.
