Women's Cross Country Hosts Alumnae/Open Race to Begin 2023

HAVERFORD, Pa. - Despite some rainy weather delaying the start of the annual Alumnae/Open race into the 6 p.m. hour, the Haverford College women's cross country team had a great chance to open up the season without the stifling heat that has made its way into the area over the past week, welcoming back four alums to campus for a friendly but spirited competition.

Hannah Yeakey '21 won the three-mile race in 19:22, followed by unattached runner and Haverford College professor Carola Binder crossing in 19:38. Lena Edelstein '09 was third in 19:43, while Griffin Kaulbach '21 was fourth (20:09).

Julianna Watson was the top varsity finisher, crossing in 20:25, while Alice Sappenfield (20:26), Savannah Shaw (20:33), Dominique Monroy (20:45), Jessie Hausman (21:15), and Carly Priest (21:16) rounded out the top 10.

Anna Berry (21:36), Audrey Carter (21:42), Anastasia Jaycobs (22:02), Sophia Furman (22:30), Poppy Chrisman (23:00), Grace Chen (23:28), Claire Parsons (23:32), Grace Hannigan (24:24), and Judy Xie (24:38) also competed for the Fords.

A complete list of the day's results is linked at the top of this page. The varsity squad returns to action next Friday, September 15 for the Main Line Invitational back on the Alumni Cross Country Course beginning at 4:45 p.m.
