Women’s Cross Country Climbs up Metro Rankings

Full Metro Region Rankings Release

HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Haverford College Women's Cross Country team rose to sixth in the latest release of the Division III Women's Cross Country Metro Region rankings, moving up four spots from last week, the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced on Wednesday afternoon.

The Fords are coming off a positive Paul Short Run where they were able to outpace Centennial Conference foes Swarthmore, Ursinus, and Muhlenberg, three schools that overtook Haverford at the Centennial Conference Championships last season.

The Scarlet and Black were bolstered last Saturday by a top-100 finish for Alice Sappenfield, who placed 85th overall in a field of 364 runners at Paul Short's white race.

The Fords were able to leapfrog over two Centennial Conference foes in the Metro Rankings. Swarthmore dropped one spot to 7th, while Ursinus slid down a spot as well to 10th in the region.

The NJAC's TCNJ moved up one spot to claim the No.1 ranking in the Metro, with fellow NJAC counterpart Stockton in 2nd and Moravian of the Landmark Conference remaining in 3rd.

You can catch Women's Cross Country next at the 2023 NCAA Pre-Nationals Invitational on Saturday, October 7. The competition will be hosted by Dickinson College and will take place at Big Spring High School located in Newville, Pennsylvania.
