Haverford College Athletics

  • Haverford had the most student-athletes (97) named to the Centennial Conference Academic Honor Roll for the third straight season of competition.
  • Baseball captured the Centennial Conference title for the first time in program history.
  • Brittany Stevenson tossed the first perfect game in Haverford softball history on April 5 in a non-conference 10-0 victory against Gwynedd-Mercy College.
  • Men's tennis team qualified for a spot in the Centennial Conference championship tournament for the sixth time in the past seven seasons.
  • Women's tennis team qualified for the Centennial Conference playoffs for the fourth straight season.
  • Men's outdoor Track and Field won their 17th Centennial Conference title.

 Baseball

  • Captured the Centennial Conference title for the first time in program history.
  • The Fords overcame a 9-1 deficit to defeat Drew University, 11-9, in 12 innings during NCAA Mideast Regional play.
  • Sophomore center fielder Nick Miranda and senior first baseman Jake Chaplin scored 48 and 45 runs, respectively to nab the top two single-season runs scored spots on the program records lists.
  • Chaplin (64), Hudak (63) and Miranda (62) took over the top three spots for most hits in a single season.
  • ABCA Mid-Atlantic All-Region Team- (Hudak –third team, Jeremy Zoll –third team.)
  • All-Centennial Conference- (Casey Fox –first team, Zoll –first team, Bergjans –second team, Hudak –second team, Chaplin –honorable mention, Justin Coulter –honorable mention.)
  •  Jewish Sports Review 2012 College Baseball First-Team All-America squad- (Chaplin, Zoll)

Tommy Bergjans

  • Established a new program game record with 15 strikeouts in an 8-2 road victory at Muhlenberg on April 5.

Mike Bozzi

  • Mid-Atlantic regional All-Tournament Team
  • Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Baseball Team

Alex Hudak

  • Outfielder’s 20 doubles set single-season program record.


Softball

  • Team went 6-0 in Florida over spring break which set a new mark for best start in program history.
  • All-Centennial Conference- (Jen DiCandilo –honorable mention, Newman –honorable mention.)

Dayle Comerford

  • Tied the single-season records for doubles in a season with 13 and home runs in a game (two).

Claire Fitzgerald

  • Tied the single-season record for strikeouts with 95 and matched the game strikeout record of 10 twice.

Elizabeth Newman

  • Tied the program record for runs scored in a season (32).
  • Named to the Jewish Sports Review 2012 College Softball All-American Team.

Brittany Stevenson

  • Tossed the first perfect game in program history on April 5 in a non-conference 10-0 victory against Gwynedd-Mercy College at Class of ’95 Field. 


Men’s Lacrosse

  • Team finished 30th on the laxpower.com (national) tournament selection index and 36th in the computer ratings. 
  • USILA) All-Americans- (Joe Banno –honorable mention, Dillon Hamill –honorable mention, Phillip Valliant –honorable mention.)
  • USILA Scholar All-Americans- (Banno, Hamill)
  • USILA/LaxWorld Senior All-Star Game, South roster- (Banno, Alexander Douglas, Hamill)
  • All-Centennial Conference- (Valliant –first team, Banno –second team, Chanelli –second team, Hamill –second team)

Joe Banno

  • Closed out his four years between the pipes for Haverford with a record 41 career wins and a program-best 7.89 goals-against career average.

Scott Chanelli

  • Set a new single-game program record for ground balls with 19 against Fairleigh-Dickinson University at Florham on April 7.

Dillon Hamill

  • Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Men’s Lacrosse Team


Women’s Lacrosse

  • Team ranked first in the Centennial Conference in ground balls per game (20.75). 
  • IWLCA 2012 Division III Academic Honor Roll- (Ferri, Schmidt, Downing)
  • All-Centennial Conference- (Ferri –second team, Downing –honorable mention, Gallagher –honorable mention.)

Josie Ferri

  • Graduated as the program’s career leader in shots on goal (264), draw controls (151) and free position goals (43).
  • (IWLCA) All-Metro Region Team, second team.
  • Centennial Conference NCAA Woman of the Year nominee.
  • Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Women’s Lacrosse Team

Alexa Pesce

  • Set a new program standard for career assists with 83.
 

Men’s Tennis

  • Qualified for a spot in the Centennial Conference championship tournament for the sixth time in the past seven seasons. 
  • Rolled to a 5-1 victory on April 25 in an opening round playoff contest at Washington College which avenged a 5-4 regular-season loss to the Shoremen. 
  • Finished the season ranked eighth in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Atlantic South region. 
  • Took down 26th-ranked Franklin & Marshall College for the first time in three seasons with a 5-4 victory on April 14. 
  • All-Centennial Conference - (Caulfield – singles, doubles - first team, Himelstein –doubles- first team, Sergay – singles - honorable mention)

Kevin Caulfield

  • Finished the season ranked eighth in singles in the ITA Atlantic South region.
  • Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Men’s Tennis Performer of the Year.


Women’s Tennis               

  • Qualified for the Centennial Conference tournament for the fourth year in a row.
  • Captured the first postseason victory in program history with a 5-1 win over visiting Washington College on April 25.
  • Rose to as high as 16th and finished the season ranked 18th in the ITA Atlantic South region.

Alex Ferrara

  • Capped a strong sophomore season with a final regional singles ranking of 25th.

Caitlin Gallagher

  • Playing at No. 2, closed the season on a 10-match win streak.


Men’s Outdoor Track & Field

  • Won the program’s 17th outdoor Centennial title.
  • Named a USTFCCCA D-III 2012 Track & Field All-Academic team.
  • USTFCCCA Men's 2012 Division III All-Academic Track & Field team- (Arnold, Bregman, Golato, Keny, Kissin, Milic-Strkalj, Olshansky, Riccio, Sohail, and Stadler)
  • NCAA Division III Championship selections- (Golato, Schoch, Sohail, Sturner, Schilit, Kissin and Sokas.)
  • All-Centennial Conference- (Schilit – first team, Schoch – first team, Golato – first team, Milic-Strkalj – first team, Rasmussen – first team, Bregman – first team, Graves – first team,  Schoch – second team, Sohail – second team.)

Jordan Schilit

  • USTFCCCA Mideast Region Outdoor Track Athlete of the Year
  • All-America honors
  • Won the conference championship's male track performer of the meet award.
  • Broke the school and conference record in the 10,000 meter run at the Sam Howell Invitational hosted by Princeton University with a time of 29 minutes, 46.07 seconds.
  • Broke the school and conference records for the 5,000 meter run with his performance at Princeton's Sam Ellis Memorial meet. His time is the fifth-fastest 5,000 by any Division III runner.

  • All-America Honors

Andrew Sturner

  • All-America Honors

Women’s Outdoor Track & Field

  • Finished fourth at the Centennial Conference championship meet.
  • Named a USTFCCCA D-III 2012 Track& Field All-Academic team.
  • All-Centennial Conference- (Lipinski – first team, Balmer – honorable mention.)
  • USTFCCCA Women's 2012 Division III All-Academic Track & Field team- (Balmer, Lipinski, Miller.)

Kylie Lipinski

  • Took gold in the triple jump for the third year in a row at the outdoor championship meet.
  • Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Women’s Track & Field Team.
