Women’s squash fights hard in 5-4 loss to NYU

PRINCETON, N.J. – The Haverford College women's squash team closed the 2010-11 season with a 5-4 loss to New York University in the consolation round of the E Division at the College Squash Association's Howe Cup Sunday morning.

The Fords had a leg up due to NYU forfeiting at the Nos. 8 and 9 positions. Despite the disadvantage, NYU was victorious at the top-five spots. Caroline Nightingale and Kara Percival took their matches to four games at Nos. 1 and 3.

Katherine Pryor impressed in her win at No. 6, taking down Jenny Min; 15-13, 11-7, 11-8. At No. 7, Zoe Becker also won in straight games. She won the first and third games with ease against Amanda Duong, but had to claw for a 13-11 second set victory.

Aliza Polkes and Alisa Strayer were awarded the default victories at Nos. 8 and 9, respectively.

Haverford finishes the season with a 2-12 record.
