Squash teams split with Commodores

HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Haverford College men's and women's squash teams hosted Vanderbilt University in an early morning match Saturday. The men downed the Commodores, 6-3, while the women fell, 7-2.

The men were aided by victories at the Nos. 1-4 positions in the lineup. Zef Konst won in four sets at the top-spot followed by Andy McComas' straight set victory at No. 2. Tim Ibbotson-Sindelar won a decisive fifth set over Zack Hoyt at No. 3 while Chris Tyson won in three sets at No. 4. David Chang and Zeek Barnett picked up victories at the Nos. 8 and 9 spots.

On the women's side, Randee Johnson got the Fords on the board with her straight set win at No. 4. At the No. 8 spot Alisa Strayer won her first two sets convincingly before dropping the third. Georgie Sillem took Strayer to the limit in the fourth, but Strayer came out on top, 14-12.

The men improve to 7-4 on the season while the women drop to 1-7.

Both teams head to New York City for a Sunday matinee against Columbia University at noon.
