Women's squash blanked at Guy Fawkes Challenge

Poughkeepsie, N.Y.- The Haverford College women's squash team suffered their first losses of the season in the Guy Fawkes Challenge, hosted by Vassar College on Saturday.

The Fords, who hold a 1-2 record this season, were blanked by identical 9-0 scores to Smith College and Vassar. 

In the first match against Smith, #5 Alisa Strayer battled hard, eventually falling in five games (11-8, 10-12, 13-11, 7-11, 11-3) to XiZhu Zhao.  In the second match vs. Vassar, #1 Caroline Nightingale put forth a solid effort in another five-gamer (11-6, 6-11, 7-11, 11-8, 11-5) against Jacqueling Zhou. 

Next up for the Fords will be a Saturday, Nov. 12 match in Cambridge, Mass with Wellesley College at 2:30 p.m., followed by a Nov. 13 date with Northeastern (11 a.m.) and Boston College (2 p.m.).
