Women's squash puts up a fight at Pioneer Valley Invitational

SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. – The Haverford College women's squash team dropped matches to 23rd-ranked Connecticut College and 26th-ranked Wellesley College at the Pioneer Valley Invitational on Saturday.

The Fords (2-9) fell to Connecticut (3-11) by the score of 9-0 to start the day. Kate Mundell, playing at No.4, gave the Camels' Jennifer Hyslip a fight despite falling in three games and Roxanne Jaffe, at No.6, improved her scores throughout her contest against Haley Vasquez.

Haverford finished the day with an 8-1 defeat at the hands of the Wellesley Blue (5-8). Alisa Strayer, playing at No. 7, earned the lone victory for the Fords with an 11-8, 11-8, 11-7 decision over Alexandra Spiliakos. Caroline Nightingale, at No.1, gave Rosemary O'Connor a battle before falling with scores of 11-6, 11-7, and 11-9 while Jaffe, once again playing at No.6, continued her weekend-long persistent effort.

Haverford closes out competition at the Invitational Sunday with tough matches slated against No.21 Tufts University and No.13 Mount Holyoke College.
