Women's squash set back by Hoyas

HAVERFORD, Pa. - The Haverford College women's squash team fell short in its bid to make it two wins in a row as it fell 7-2 to No. 30 Georgetown Saturday afternoon at the Gardner Integrated Athletic Center.

The 32nd-ranked Fords fall to 3-12 on the season while the Hoyas improve to 3-3.

Caroline Nightingale, at No. 1, took down Georgetown's Carolyn Meister in three games with scores of 11-4, 11-4, 11-8. Freshman Samara Flug, playing at No. 8, duplicated Nightingale's effort as she dug deep to pull out a 12-10 win in game three.

Randee Johnson at No.5, made her opponent work for every point  in a tough four game match. Johnson pulled out game two 11-8 to draw even with Lindsay Kolowich before dropping a tight 11-9 match in game four.

Demonstrating her leadership, senior Zoe Becker, playing at No.7, put up a fight against Lindsay Weil before falling in four games. Classmate Roxanne Jaffe, at No. 6, displayed great determination despite a 3-0 defeat as she pushed Lucy Gibson to extra points in the final two games.

The Fords return to action next Saturday afternoon as they welcome Johns Hopkins to the Gardner Integrated Athletic Center at 3 p.m.
