Fords continue play at CSA championship

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Haverford College women's squash team fell to Boston College, 9-0, on Saturday morning as play continued in the Epps Cup (D Division) of the College Squash Association (CSA) championship.

The 32nd-ranked Fords (4-14) had many players exhibit strong showings despite defeat. Zoe Becker, at No.7, gave Gina Giuggio all she could handle as three of the four games of her match went to overtime including a 14-12 heartbreaker in game four. Randee Johnson, playing at No. 6, also displayed great determination by rallying to take game two, after a hard-fought game one loss, to push her match to four games.

Caroline Nightingale at No.1, Roxanne Jaffe at No. 5, and Alisa Strayer at No. 8 all gave their opponents a battle despite losing in three games.

The 29th-ranked Eagles (3-5) move on to play 30th-ranked Georgetown in the consolation championship of the Epps Cup.

The Fords complete CSA championship play with a match against No. 31 University of Virginia on Sunday at 11:45 a.m. in the Zesiger Sports and Fitness Center on the campus of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
