Nightingale named women's college squash player of the week

NORTHAMPTON, Mass. - Haverford College senior Caroline Nightingale was named the women's Harrow Sports College Squash Player of the Week as announced by the College Squash Association on Tuesday.

Nominated by coaches and sports information directors, Harrow Sports player of the week honorees should have a significant impact on his or her team's performance during the prior week and demonstrate sportsmanship.

Nightingale accounted for the match-clinching point last Saturday as the Fords opened the season with a 5-4 victory over host New York University. Playing in her customary spot at the top of the ladder, Nightingale faced NYU's Michelle Yhantovsky with the match deadlocked at 4-4. Six of the first eight team matches of the day had taken four or more games to complete but Nightingale wasted little time as she claimed a 3-0 victory (11-5, 11-0, 11-3).

Freshman Harrison Finkelstein of Johns Hopkins University earned the men's player of the week award.
