Season Review: Another Banner Year for Women's Squash

Signature Wins:The 33rd-ranked Fords swept past 35th-ranked Colgate University, 9-0, on February 23 to claim the E Division title at the College Squash Association (CSA) Team Championships for the second consecutive year … Haverford's undefeated weekend at the team championships also included a 9-0 blanking of the University of Minnesota.

Season Notes:The Fords capped the 2013-14 campaign with a five-match winning streak on their way to establishing a new program record for wins in a season (nine) … Junior Samara Flug and freshman Isabel Agnew paced the squad with nine wins apiece … Senior Caroline Nightingale, sophomores Alyssa Kaden and Bethany Simmonds, and freshman Rachael Garnick won eight matches each … All of Nightingale's eight wins came at the top of the ladder … Nightingale closed the season by competing in the CSA Individual Championships for the second straight year … Joining Nightingale at the individual championships  at the University of Pennsylvania in the beginning of March were junior Alex Love and Simmonds … Flug, Garnick and Love all ended the season on six-match winning streaks … Garnick went 7-0 in the No. 8 spot … Haverford finished 33rd in the final national rankings of the season.

Looking Ahead: "This group ended their season with an enthusiasm not just for winning their division, but a hunger to qualify into the next highest division for next season," said coach Niki Clement.  "I think this group is up to that challenge, based on their love for the game and strong work ethic. The upperclassmen have set a solid example of how to focus on their weaknesses and work to improve upon them, which will become crucial in the later part of the season when the national rankings will determine our placement in the division championships."
