Women's Squash Splits vs. Northwestern and No. 24 Wellesley

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Haverford College women's squash team split its doubleheader today by beating the Northwestern Wildcats 9-0 and dropping a 9-0 decision to the No. 24 Wellesley Blue at MIT.

Senior Samara Flug, sophomore Isabel Agnew, juniors Emily Berlin, Bethany Simmonds and Sabina Aliev each won their ladder positions vs. the Wildcats in three games. Flug's win was the 20th in her career and moves her into a tie for sixth place on the all-time list.

Simmonds, Agnew and Love each recorded their 15th career victory vs. Northwestern.

Junior Alyssa Kaden and freshman Isabelle Gotuaco dropped just one game in their wins. Senior Alex Love found herself down two games to one before rebounding to score victories in game four (14-12) and game five (11-5). Senior Avery Weisel was also down two games to one and rallied to win the final two games (11-7, 12-10) in her victory.

Against No. 24 Wellesley, Gotauco lost in four games (3-11, 4-11, 11-8, 8-11) as did Aliev (6-11, 11-9, 7-11, 5-11) and Simmonds (9-11, 11-7, 9-11, 4-11). Agnew fought valiantly in her three game loss, scoring 22 points.

The Fords are now 6-4 on the season and have one match on their busy weekend left. Head coach Niki Clement's team battles Northeastern tomorrow at MIT beginning at 9:15 a.m.
