HAVERFORD, Pa. -  The Haverford College women's squash team split its doubleheader at the GIAC Squash Courts with a victory over the Denison Big Red, 5-4 and loss to the Tufts University Jumbos, 9-0.

In the team's first match of the contest, Junior Emilia Cobbs secured the clinching point for the Fords with 3-2 victory (11-5, 5-11, 11-9, 11-7, 11-7) at the No. 7 position. Senior Sabina Aliev registered the first point for Haverford after winning the final three games of her match (4-11, 11-2, 11-2, 11-6) at the No. 6 ladder position. Senior Bethany Simmonds won her 21st career match in a sweep while sophomore Atalanta Henderson also nabbed a sweep. Henderson had two games go extras, but the Ford won 16-14 in both. Freshman Olivia Franco added another point for Haverford as Denison defaulted at the No. 9 position.

After a break, Haverford couldn't secure the victory vs. Tufts as the Jumbos won each match. Seniors Emily Berlin and Simmonds each recorded a point in their losses.

Head coach Nikki Clement's squad nabbed its first win of the season to set its record at 1-5 on the season. Both squash teams will take a break before the annual alumni/ae matches begin the 2016 portion of the schedule on January 15th.
