CARLISLE, Pa. – The Haverford College women's squash team enjoyed a successful day at the Dickinson Round Robin on Saturday. The Fords started their day with a 6-3 win against Johns Hopkins and followed that up with a 9-0 sweep of Rochester. The Fords' 9-0 blanking was just their second such win of the season. Unfortunately for Haverford, the 9-0 score swung in favor of Dickinson during the final match of the afternoon.

Haverford had three players that did not drop a game in their double victories against Johns Hopkins and Rochester. Isabelle Gotuaco started her day 2-0 in the second position on the ladder. Her wins included a pair of 11-2 games against Rochester, while closing her win against Johns Hopkins by allowing just nine points in the final two games.

Emily Berlin and Emilia Cobbs also did not drop a game in their first two matches of the day. At No. 5, Berlin came through in a 12-10 middle game against Johns Hopkins before sealing that win with an 11-8 third game score. She allowed just 13 points in her match against Rochester, including an 11-2 game to clinch her victory. Cobbs pulled through with back-to-back hard-fought wins in her match at No. 9 against Johns Hopkins. She emerged with 11-9 victories in the second and third games against the Blue Jays to pave her way to victory. She made much more efficient work of her opponent in the match against Rochester as she allowed just 13 points, including a convincing 11-2 third game.

Ava Lichauco also won in three games during the match against Johns Hopkins. Playing at No. 8, she conceded just 10 points. Her most impressive game was an 11-1 win in the middle. The only blemish on Lichuaco's play during the first two matches was a 13-11 second game that fell in favor of her Rochester opponent. She responded and won that match by not allowing more than six points in any of those remaining game wins.

Isabel Agnew and Sabina Aliev each pulled through with four game victories against Johns Hopkins. Agnew won her final two games at No. 4 against the Blue Jays by 12-10 and 11-5 scores before going on to sweep her opponent in the match against Rochester. Aliev won three straight games to close her 3-1 victory at No. 7. After a 12-10 setback in her first game, she rolled off 11-4, 11-7 and 11-7 wins. She allowed just 11 points in her victory against Rochester.

The three wins from Johns Hopkins all came in four games. Bethany Simmonds took the first game off of her opponent at the top of the ladder. She bounced back with a sweep of her Rochester opponent in which she allowed just 12 points. Sarah Madigan kept her hopes for victory alive against Johns Hopkins alive with an 11-9 victory in the third game before falling four. Madigan turned a 3-1 match in her favor later in the day against Rochester. Grace Fioramonti-Gorchow picked up her game against the Blue Jays with an 11-7 win in the second. She later got in the win column with a sweep of her Rochester opponent.

Just two matches remain before the team championships. Both of those matches will be at home as the Fords close the regular season against New York University (10:30 a.m.) and Georgetown (3:30 p.m.) this Saturday, February 13 inside the GIAC Squash Courts.
