Madigan and Berlin named CSA Scholar Athletes

HAVERFORD, Pa. – Seniors Sarah Madigan and Emily Berlin of the Haverford College women's squash team were named to the College Squash Association's (CSA) Scholar Athlete list today.

To meet the criteria for the award, players on varsity teams must be a two-time letterwinner at the school they are attending, have a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or above, be enrolled at their present school for one full year prior to present term and had played in a top-10 ladder position for the majority of the season.

Madigan won three matches during the season, including two from the No. 3 ladder position and one from the No. 4 position. She finished her Haverford career with nine wins overall. She was also named to the prestigious William W. Ambler '45 award, presented by the Haverford College Department of Athletics to the senior student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade-point average.

Berlin won a career-high five matches, all coming out of the No. 5 ladder position. All five of her wins came in sweeps over her opponents. In a winning effort against Smith College (Jan. 16), Berlin allowed just four total points from her counterpart (11-0, 11-3, 11-1).

Head coach Niki Clement's team qualified for the Epps Cup in the CSA Team Championship for the second consecutive year. Haverford finished the season with six total wins.
