Women's Squash Tripped Up By Northeastern

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Haverford women's squash team was defeated 9-0 by Northeastern at the MIT Round Robin at the Zeigser Center Squash courts on Saturday afteroon. The Fords fall to 1-5 on the season in defeat while Northeastern evened up its record at 3-3.

Haverford had an impressive performance from freshman Kaitlin Reese at the second spot on the ladder. Reese battled back to force a fifth game after falling into an early 0-2 hole. Reese displayed grit and perseverance to come back and force the fifth stanza, catching Kristy Wong with a pair of overwhelming games before dropping a competitive fifth game.  The final score of the match was 9-11, 7-11, 11-5, 11-8, 7-11.

Olivia Franco skimmed a game from Alex Berg, taking the first of four by a final tally of 11-7 at the fourth spot on the ladder. At the fifth spot on the ladder, Mason McNulty took Lucia Ryll to extra points before falling in the first game 10-12.

The Fords will return to action in a quick turnaround with their first home contest of the season, hosting No. 21 Wellesley at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday at the GIAC Squash Courts on the Haverford campus. The match is the first of a three game homestand that will also see the Fords taking on No. 27 Vassar on January 21 and No. 28 Mount Holyoke on January 28.
