ANNAPOLIS, Md. - The No. 26 Haverford College women's squash team (1-1) registered a split at the Navy Round Robin on Saturday, earning a thrilling 5-4 victory over No. 28 Denison (1-2) before falling to No. 27 Georgetown (1-0), by a 9-0 final in the late afternoon match at the US Naval Academy.

Haverford 5, Denison 4

The Fords were engaged in some classic battles with the Big Red, as Emi Krishnamurthy outlasted Jaz'mene Little at the fourth flight in a five-game epic, taking the first game before Little rallied back with a pair of wins on her own to force a fourth game. Krishnamurthy fired back to take the final two games in a 11-9, 7-11, 5-11, 11-8, 11-6 thriller. Elsewhere, Denison grabbed a five-game win after Shreya Singh took two wins to open play before her opponent rallied back to reverse sweep her way to victory.

Catherine Fortin (11-2, 7-11, 11-6, 12-14, 11-7) and Emi Zegers (11-7, 3-11, 14-12, 12-14, 12-10) also grabbed exhilarating five-game victories at the seventh and eighth flights, handing key tallies into the Haverford ledger. Ariana Solecki was a standout at the third flight, changing the course with a sweep while Caroline Smith also registered a convincing sweep at the sixth flight.

Haverford is now 6-0 all-time against Denison, which is in its first season as a varsity program in 2021-22.

Georgetown 9, Haverford 0

Against an upstart Hoyas side, the Fords struggled to find a consistent rhythm as Georgetown took a 9-0 sweep. Singh took a game from Nicole Carino at the fourth flight, while Zahra Kahn was also strong in the third flight, battling Nina Thomas to the wire in the final two games of their match. Smith and Fortin also frustrated their opponents before falling in straight games.

The Fords will be back in action on Friday, November 19, taking on No. 20 St. Lawrence in the friendly confines of the GIAC Squash Courts (5 p.m.). Haverford last matched up with the Saints in 2019, a 7-2 win for the Saints.
