HAVERFORD, Pa. - The No. 29 Haverford women's squash team (3-9) suffered a home defeat to No. 23 Colby College (4-7) on Friday evening under the lights of the GIAC Squash Courts.

Colby's top two flights set the tone for the match, as Abhisheka David got the better of Ariana Solecki (11-6, 11-1, 11-1), and Aileen Dominguez gained the upper hand over Catherine Fortin (11-5, 11-1, 11-3).

The momentum for the Mules continued in flights three and four, as India Spencer took down Emi Krishnamurthy (11-3, 11-2, 11-3), and Amanda Miller defeated Zoe Liu (11-1, 11-2, 11-7).

The middle flights saw a few competitive games but yielded the same results with three more sweeps for Colby. Karla Domingues dispelled Maya Johnson-Fraidin in flight five (11-6, 11-3, 11-3), Juliette Love was the victor over Matilda Chartener in flight six (11-3, 11-2, 11-2), and MacKenzie O'Shea turned away Amy Saxon (11-3, 11-8, 11-5) in flight seven.

The real showdown of the night took place at the eighth flight between Pepper Claytor and Lily Matthews. Claytor went up by one after taking game one (11-5), but Matthews answered right back by taking game two (11-9) and game three (12-10) in succession. Claytor won game four (11-6) to knot the battle at two games a piece, before closing out the matchup with an 11-8 victory.

The lone point for the Fords came from Sarah Kotapka at the ninth flight, as Colby defaulted with only eight healthy players available for the trip to the Keystone state.

The two sides were matching up for the first time since facing off in the College Squash Association Epps Cup quarterfinals during the 2019-20 season.

Haverford will now see a quick turnaround following this evening's contest, as the Fords will hit the road to take on Dickinson on Saturday, February 3, at noon.
