Paige Carson ’18, a psychology and Spanish double major is working this summer as a medical assistant for Drs. Klein and Parish of Aesthetic Dermatology.
A native of Germany, the physics major will return to Europe this summer to conduct theoretical physics research that will be used to construct a model of the Big Bang.
The Haverford College athletic department celebrated the Class of 2018 at its annual Senior Athlete Award Ceremony on Tuesday afternoon in Gooding '84 Arena.
In addition, Allyson Lynch was named a Scholar of Distinction and the Fords were named one of 133 Division III programs to earn the Division III National Academic Team Award.
"There are a number of student-athletes in my classes. I understand the idea of balance—that athletics can really enrich the college experience—and I have a lot of respect for what they are doing."
Of those 66 student-athletes honored for their academic work in the classroom, 19 of those honorees were also named All-Centennial Conference performers during the fall season.
The Haverford volunteer effort, organized by Eighth Dimension, Haverford's Office of Community Service, and promoted by the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), is another example of the Haverford athletic department supporting the NCAA Division III Special Olympics initiative.
Senior co-captain Stephanie Terrell was named to the first team while sophomore Rachel Gordon was named to the second team. Sophomore Caroline Aronowitz picked up honorable mention honors.
Casey Wakai scored in the 33rd minute for the lone goal of the contest as Haverford downed visiting Muhlenberg by a final tally of 1-0 in the Centennial Conference opener.
