Top 10 Tuesday: Steele Runs into School Record Book

HAVERFORD, Pa. – It's Top 10 Tuesday! Every Tuesday from now through the end of August, we will take a look back at the Top 10 moments from the 2013-14 academic year. This list was compiled as a way to highlight one of the most successful athletic campaigns in the history of Haverford Athletics, both on the playing field and in the classroom.

Although there were many memorable moments throughout the 2013-14 seasons, we only have 10 summer Tuesdays. For a full list of all the highlights from this past year, be sure to check out the complete list of varsity highlights here. The Tuesday Top 10 will be revealed in chronological order.

Making her Centennial Conference Indoor Track & Field Championship debut, then-freshman Brittany Steele announced her presence with authority by claiming gold medals in both the 60-meter and 200-meter races. In her 60-meter championship race, Steele broke Haverford's school record by finishing in a time of 7.91. That mark edged out her closest competitor by one-hundredth of a second. She went on to win the 200 meters in a time of 26.51, making her the second fastest individual in school history in that event.

In addition to her two championship performances, Steele rounded out her championship debut by helping the Fords' 4x200 relay team finish fourth in the conference. By the end of the weekend, Steele helped Haverford earn a total of 25 team points with her two individual gold medals and relay team finish. At the conclusion of the conference championship, Steele was named the Centennial Conference Outstanding Rookie Performer of the Meet on the women's side.
