Tieze, a biology major and neuroscience minor as well as a member of Haverford's fencing team, is off to NASA’s Ames Research Center in Northern California.
The Haverford College Athletic Department will induct its eighth class into the Thomas Glasser ’82 Hall of Achievement in the spring of 2018. The deadline for submission of nominees for the 2018 Hall of Achievement is August 1, 2017.
Abujbara started her fencing career at Haverford by joining the team during her sophomore campaign. In just three short years, Abujbara rose to the ranks of team captain at Haverford while her fencing prowess earned her a spot on the Qatar national team.
Haverford College men’s and women’s fencing coach Christopher Spencer has been selected as a coach on the U.S. cadre for the World University Games that will be held in Taiwan this summer.
The Fords will return all four of their regional qualifiers to the team next year, highlighted by all-conference fencers Anna Neuheardt (sabre) and Alexandra Morrison (foil).
Team co-captain Amira Abujbara '17 has been fencing at Haverford and with the Qatar national team. She made her international debut during a hectic week where she took home a bronze medal in Bahrain.
Anna Neuheardt earned second-team honors for the second time in is many seasons, while Alexandra Morrison was named second-team All-EWFC for the first time in her career.
Over the weekend, several individuals continued their successful seasons against the talent-laden field, while the team also recorded a 16-11 victory over Fairleigh Dickinson.
Sophomore sabrist Anna Neuheardt was at her best against the Fords’ toughest competition as she claimed two individual victories against No. 8 Penn State and No. 9 Temple, along with two wins against a receiving votes Yale team.
The Fords garnered wins against Hunter, Yeshiva, and Army West Point. Haverford also posted some impressive individual wins by seasoned veterans and wily newcomers as well.
Over 200 student-athletes across multiple varsity teams took part in the 28th annual Special Olympics Pennsylvania Festival at Villanova this past weekend.
Looking to lead the Fords to greater heights during the 2016-17 season will be an overall young team with veteran leadership spread out across all three weapons.
