HAVERFORD, Pa. - The Haverford College Department of Athletics celebrated the Class of 2022 at its annual Senior Student-Athlete Award Ceremony, held in Marshall Auditorium at Roberts Hall on the Haverford College late Tuesday afternoon.

Director of Athletics Danielle Lynch welcomed everyone in attendance and the many more watching online via the live stream. Always one of the highlights of the awards ceremony, the senior student-athlete tribute video was the first big event of the evening, and that tribute can be viewed via the link at the top of this article. The top 10 moments from the year were also profiled to much fanfare leading up to the event, and were unveiled prior to the rest of the award announcements. A link to that video is also available via the top of this release.

Before the Senior Student-Athlete Awards were presented, seniors who had broken a significant Haverford College record during their time with the Fords were highlighted. Senior record holders from the Class of 2022 were Ravenel Davis (field hockey), Dina Kosyagin (volleyball), Hannah Roth (field hockey), Mia Reyes (women's soccer) and Ethan Gadra (men's track & field).

Lynch then closed out the night with the unveiling of the 2022 senior student-athlete award winners, as determined by the athletic department staff and presented to the senior athletes by their respective coaches. First, the A.W. "Pop" Haddleton Award was given for perseverance, dedication, and loyalty, recognizing senior student-athletes for outstanding contribution to an athletic team but who may not have received the recognition that, for example, a regular starting player does.

Jacob Gaba (men's cross country; track & field), Moorea Morrison (women's soccer) and Will Vostrejs (baseball) earned this award for their unwavering commitment to their squads, leading those programs to great achievements during their four years at Haverford.

The Stephen G. Cary '37 Award, which is given to the senior who has made the greatest overall impact on the Haverford athletic program through a combination of athletic participation and achievement, leadership, sportsmanship, and off-field athletic department involvement, was presented to Isabel Schwam of volleyball.

Schwam, a three-year captain of the Fords, was a stalwart leader on and off the court for Haverford as she helped the Fords to new heights during her senior season. Haverford earned a berth in the NCAA tournament for the first time since the 2014 season, and finished with a 24-6 record in 2021, advancing to the NCAA tournament Round of 32 as Schwam appeared in 30 matches, registering 221 digs and 32 service aces. Off the field, Schwam is a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) executive committee and serves on the anti-racism subcommittee. She is a founding member of Haverford's Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion subcommittee, has served on the search committee for both Haverford's interim athletic director and athletic director searches, and has served as a student worker and communications intern in the sports information department, assisting with record-keeping, event management, and storytelling for Haverford's 23 varsity programs.

The Gregory Kannerstein '63 Award, formerly the Alumni-Varsity Club Award, was presented to both Caroline Alexis (women's lacrosse) and Dina Kosyagin (volleyball). The Kannerstein Award is presented to an individual or individuals whose combination of outstanding athletic achievement and leadership has been a significant factor in a team's competitive success and whose level of performance has brought distinction not only to the individual, but also the entire athletic program.

Alexis has been a force on the defensive side for the NCAA tournament bound No. 22 women's lacrosse program. She has helped that progam reach new heights in her senior campaign as the Fords will compete in the national tournament for the first time since the 1991 season with action beginning Saturday at Ithaca College. Alexis has appeared in 41 career games for the Fords, making a start in each game she has played, scooping 40 ground balls, causing 26 turnovers, and earning eight draw controls.

Kosyagin was also a difference maker for an NCAA tournament team as she helped the volleyball squad back to the national tournament for the first time since 2014, earning NCAA Cambridge Regional All-Tournament Team selection after that postseason trip resulted in a first-round win over UMass-Boston. A two-time member of All-Centennial Conference squads as well as an AVCA All-Region V selection in 2021, she finishes her Haverford career with 938 total kills in just three competitive seasons, as well as the the seventh-best kills per set mark in program history (3.13). The outside hitter proved to be a force on the outside all season long, with a Centennial-best 386 kills (3.82 per set). She turned it up a notch against conference competition, logging 4.0 kills per set against Centennial, the best mark in the conference this season. During the last week of the regular season in October, Kosyagin was named CC Player of the Week after tallying 21 kills in a sweep of Swarthmore, matching the program's record for kills in a three-set match.

Ravenel Davis was the final award winner of the evening as she earned the Varsity Cup as the most outstanding athlete of the senior class. Davis had a breakout senior campaign after beginning her career with six goals and three assists in 13 starts through two competitive seasons. In 2021, she was named an NFHCA third-team All-American, becoming just the fifth player in program history to earn that honor and the first since 2012. The illustrious honor came fresh on the heels of first-team All-Region honors from the NFHCA, as Davis became the first Haverford player to earn a slot on the first team since Sarah Waldis after the 2015 season.

A PhillySIDA Academic All-Region honoree in 2021, Davis was a prolific offensive performer for Haverford, and made her mark on the box score in almost every contest. She tallied a CC-best 17 goals and matched Player of the Year selection Maddie Brown-Scherer of Johns Hopkins with 36 total points. Davis fired 75 shots and tallied nine game-winning goals in 2021, setting a Haverford program record and matching the CC record in that category as the Fords etched a 13-5 overall record.

The psychology major was named Centennial Conference Offensive Player of the Week on three occasions, and was recognized by the NFHCA as an honorable mention for National Player of the Week in September. Davis tallied multiple goals in four contests, including hat tricks against Immaculata (Sept. 6) and Elizabethtown (Sept. 15). The senior co-captain was also named to the Centennial Conference All-Sportsmanship Team following the conclusion of the regular season.

Davis and the Fords finished the season with a berth in the Centennial Conference tournament, returning to the postseason for the first time since the 2017 season and making a ninth playoff appearance overall. Haverford won 13 of its first 15 contests to begin the year and finished just one victory shy of matching the program's single-season wins record. Field Hockey also notched a pair of ranked wins, taking down No. 8 Rowan and No. 18 Franklin & Marshall en route to joining the national rankings themselves, peaking at No. 17 in the Division III National Coaches Poll in October.
