Athletic Facility Use Details

  •  Most athletic facilities are available by request with an EMS reservation.  Reservations must be made more than 48 hours in advance. 
    • Reservations may change at any time, including with minimal notice. 

    • Reservations within the GIAC/Alumni Field House must be made within the building’s hours of operation. No reservations or usage may happen when the building is closed. 

    • Reservations not currently required to use the Tellem Fitness Center.

  • All facilities are available around the varsity sport practices and competitions. 

    • During all varsity sport practices & competitions, the facility is closed. 

  • The facilities will be approved in the following priority order: major campus events, varsity events and practices, physical education classes, club teams, and then all general requests. 

  • All facilities with a schedule can be found on the Athletic Facility Schedule page.

    • Each schedule is the most up to date version. 

    • EMS reservations that are approved, will appear on the schedule once reviewed. 

    • Groups that are listed on the schedule have priority over the use of the space. 

  • Please use the facilities with respect, care, and always clean up after yourself.

Gardner Center Policies 

  • Usage of the Gardner Center athletic facilities (Tellem Fitness Center, Gooding Arena, and GIAC Squash Courts) is currently available to Haverford College and Bryn Mawr College students, faculty and staff. 

  • Anyone entering the Gardner Center facilities must show a college-issued ID card.

  • A limited amount of equipment is available at the information desk. All equipment must be signed in/out by the monitor on duty. Monitors will hold the user’s ID card while the equipment is signed out.

  • General locker rooms are available on the main floor of the Gardner Center. Individuals must supply their own locks and empty the locker by the end of the day. A limited number of overnight lockers are available for full-time use for those members of the Haverford College community (faculty/staff) who can demonstrate a need for a locker and who do not live on campus. Please contact Megan Tustin with inquiries about locker availability.

Fitness Center/Strength and Conditioning Policies

  • All Gardner Center policies apply.

  • The fitness center is only open during the posted hours of operation

  • Please refer to the Fitness Center Schedule for availability.

  • Use of the Tellem Fitness Center is a privilege. Please help us maintain the current nature of the facility. Respect the room and its users.

Alumni Usage Policies 

The Arn '76 and Nancy Tellem Fitness Center is open for usage to alumni and family of Haverford College employees. 

  • For card access to the facilities, please fill out this form here. 

  • All alumni and family must follow the same GIAC & Arn Tellem policies as students. 

Alumni Field House Policies 

  • Reservations for the Alumni Field House are available through EMS. 

    • Please do not book the entire field house without prior approvals. 

    • Groups wishing to use all tennis courts can book each individual court. 

    • Reservations must be made more than 48 hours in advance. 

    • Reservations may change at any time, including with minimal notice. 

    • Reservations within the Alumni Field House must be made within the GIAC’s hours of operation. No reservations or usage may happen when the building is closed. 

  • Absolutely no food, smoking, gum, or drinks, except water, are allowed in the Field House

  • Vehicles should park in the South Parking Lot ONLY.

  • A Haverford issued ID must be used to enter the building.

  • All Haverford College equipment should be returned where you found it.

  • All floor tape used on the track or tennis court surface, must be approved by Megan Tustin, prior to use.

  • Track & Field Policies:

    • Only Indoor shots are permitted in the Field House. Steel shots, discus, and javelin are not permitted

    • Track spikes are not permitted on the tennis court surface.

  • No one is permitted to use the Field House during practice times.

  • Please refer to the Google calendar for the schedule. The calendar can be found on the Athletic Facility Schedules. 

External Rental Policies 

  • All outside groups and individuals must contact Director of Conferences and Events, Efram Harkins and Director of Athletic Facilities, Megan Tustin for approvals. 

  • Dates & times are available on a limited basis. 

    • Please note that external rentals are extremely limited during the academic year. Break periods are approved on a case by case basis.

  • Rentals may change at any time, with limited notice due to weather, athletic scheduling changes, or any reason that Haverford College deems necessary. 

  • Without the approval of the Director of Conferences and Events and the Director of Athletic Facilities, all groups or individuals not affiliated with Haverford College, are not permitted in the field house or any athletic facility..

  • All external rentals are subject to fees, contracts, requirements, and additional staff coverage.
