Men’s track & field earns USTFCCCA All-Academic Team status

NEW ORLEANS – The Haverford College men’s track & field team posted the second-highest cumulative grade point average in Division III, and was one of 64 teams to earn United States Track & Field Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) 2011 Division III Men’s All-Academic Team recognition.

Middlebury College led D-III in GPA, while Washington (Mo.) University was third.

Haverford had 10 student-athletes, the most in D-III, named to the USTFCCCA 2011 All-Academic Track & Field team, including All-Americans Eric Arnold, Andrew Golato, Ivo Milic-Straklj and Tim Schoch. Also making the all-Academic team were Joseph Carpenter, Lucas Fuentes, Anders Hulleberg, Faraz Sohail, Chris Southwick and Andrew Sturner. Only 200 student-athletes were selected to the all-Academic team.

To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track & Field team, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 and have met an NCAA automatic or provisional qualifying mark in an individual or relay event during either indoor or outdoor seasons.
