Baseball arrives in national poll for first time in program history

HAVERFORD, Pa. – For the first time ever, Haverford College's baseball team can claim a national ranking as the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper NCAA Division III poll released Tuesday afternoon has the Fords sitting at No. 28 with 38 points.

Shenandoah (Va.) College (27-2) tops the rankings accumulating 239 points in the voting, followed by Marietta (Ohio) College (232 pts.) and Kean (N.J.) University (217).

Haverford, at 22-4 overall and 8-2 within the Centennial Conference, is  on a nine-game win streak after having opened the season with 10 consecutive victories. The Fords sit in a tie atop the conference standings with Franlin & Marshall College which is 16-11 overall and also 8-2 in league action.

The poll results arrive in the twilight of a solid Monday for the Fords as they downed visiting Muhlenberg College, 3-2, on freshman Justin Coulter's first collegiate home run, and got news that senior shortstop Charlie Carluccio had been named the Centennial's co-player of the week while junior teammate Bryan Henrick had been voted the league's pitcher of the week.
