Baseball rolls to another doubleheader sweep

FORT MYERS, Fla. – The Haverford College baseball team received excellent pitching and timely hitting again Monday afternoon to sweep its second doubleheader in as many days. The Fords downed Eastern Nazarene (Mass.) College, 11-5 and 5-0, at Terry Park. Haverford already has three shutouts on the young season which is the third-most in a season in program history.

In Game 1, Bryan Henrick (1-0) went 4.2 innings and was charged with just one earned run to receive the win. Mike Bozzi relieved Henrick and struck out six over the final 2.1 innings.

Haverford (4-0) got on the board in the first inning thanks to a Charlie Carluccio three-run home run to right field. The Fords added two runs in both the second and fourth innings. In the fifth, Bobby Bailey broke the game wide open, launching a two-run homer.

Bailey, Jeff Butera and Alex Hudak all collected two hits in the game. Butera had a pair of doubles while Hudak drove in a run.

In the nightcap, Dan Hochberg (1-0) was dominant on the hill. He struck out 10 batters in seven innings of work for his first career shutout.

The Fords plated their first run in the second inning when Jeremy Zoll brought home Mike Galetta on a groundout. After three consecutive singles to start the fifth inning, Jake Chaplin followed suit, bringing in Matt Liscovitz for the second run.

In the sixth, Bailey went deep for the second time on the day, leading off with a solo homer. The Fords plated another run in the seventh.

Galetta went 2-for-3 with a double and a run scored and Justin Coulter also had two hits.
