A run an inning aids baseball in 19-8 win over Eastern

HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Haverford College baseball team scored a run in every inning to defeat Eastern University, 19-8, Tuesday afternoon at Class of '16 Field. The Eagles scored two quick runs in the first inning, but Haverford responded with 12 unanswered runs over the first three frames.

The Fords set season-highs for runs (19), hits (18) and home runs (3) with most of the damage happening in the first four innings.

Eastern (4-8) scored two runs in the first, but the Fords sent one run across in the bottom half and broke the game wide open in the second. Haverford scored six runs in the inning and five were with two outs. With one run already in, Louis DeRosa hit a two-run homer to right field. After Jake Chaplin walked, Charlie Carluccio doubled in Chaplin and Jeff Butera followed with a home run to left center.

In the third, Haverford (13-2) added five more runs. Matt Liscovitz initiated the scoring with his two-run homer to deep left field. Carluccio doubled for the second time in as many innings to plate two more runs and Mike Galetta singled in Carluccio to make the score, 12-2.

Five different Haverford players collected two hits in the game. Liscovitz scored four runs and Carluccio drove in five runs. The Fords recorded six stolen bases including a pair by DeRosa.

On the mound, Colin Sarafin started and went four innings. Jonny Black (2-0), Patrick Falkoff, Daniel Maddy-Weitzman, Bryan Henrick and Justin Coulter each tossed an inning in relief. Maddy-Weitzman and Henrick both tossed scoreless frames.

Haverford is back in action Wednesday when it hosts Richard Stockton (N.J.) College at 3:30 p.m.
