Carluccio named to D3baseball.com's 2011 All-America Team

HAVERFORD, Pa. – Haverford College senior shortstop Charlie Carluccio has been named to the D3baseball.com 2011 First-Team All-America team, released by the Web site Wednesday.

Earlier this week Carluccio was named to the American Baseball Coaches Association's 2011 ABCA Mid-Atlantic All-Region First Team which follows his selection as the Centennial Conference's player of the year.

Carluccio led the Centennial in hits, RBIs and total bases and established new single-season program marks for runs scored, hits and assists this spring. He also owns Haverford's career marks in runs, hits, RBIs and assists.

Of the 70 players voted onto the D3baseball.com all-American team -- comprised of a first team, second team, third team and honorable mention list -- Carluccio was the only Centennial representative.

Caruluccio is the first Haverford baseball player since 1990 to earn a nod to an all-America team. He is the the program's third, following in the footsteps of Chaon Garland (1990) and John Loughnane (1987).

Along with Carluccio (first team), teammates Mike Galetta (Sr.; second team), Jeff Butera (Sr.; third team) and Bryan Henrick (Jr.; third team) were named to the all-region squad.

Postseason conference honors saw Carluccio (first team) joined on the league's lists by Louis DeRosa (Sr.; first team) -- who earned the ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove award at second base -- Galetta (first team), Butera (first team), Colin Sarafin (Sr.; first team), Henrick (second team), Bobby Bailey (Sr.; honorable mention) and Jake Chaplin (Jr.; honorable mention). Head coach Dave Beccaria was voted the conference's coach of the year.

The Fords posted a record of 32-10 this year setting program highs for wins and winning percentage (.762), and played into the championship final of the conference tournament.
