Fords win 2nd straight with big win over Emerson

FORT MYERS, Fla. - Haverford College pounded out a 12-2 non-conference baseball victory over Emerson (Mass.) College on Tuesday morning, picking up the Fords' second consecutive win behind a strong outing from starting pitcher Kyle Waney who allowed just one unearned run.

Haverford (2-3) had picked up a win in the back half of a doubleheader Monday for its first win of the season. Emerson falls to 0-4 with the loss to the Fords.

Waney gave Haverford six innings of work allowing just two hits, one walk and an unearned run while striking out seven. Kevin Goff threw one inning of scoreless ball in relief of Waney, with Max Gerard closing out the final two innings in the win.

Jake Chaplin continued his hot start to the season with a single and a double which generated three RBIs. He also scored a run for the Fords.

Joining Chaplin with multiple hits were Alex Hudak (2-for-4), Clay Bloszies (2-for-5m two runs scored) and Luke Frankiw who collected three singles and an RBI.

The Fords get a day off Wednesday before heading back into action Thursday with a nine-inning outing against Widener College at 10 a.m.
