Coulter drives in two during loss to Ospreys

HAVERFORD, Pa. – Justin Coulter drove in both of Haverford College's runs during an 11-2 non-conference baseball loss to visiting Stockton College on an overcast Wednesday afternoon at Kannerstein Field.

Haverford (7-9) trailed the Ospreys (10-4) by three runs after the top-half of the first inning but bounced back to trim the lead to one in the bottom of the frame.

Casey Fox's one-out double to the gap in right-center field pushed Nick Miranda, who had walked to open the inning, to third base setting the table for Coulter.

Coulter matched Fox's drive lacing a double to the same spot bringing home Miranda and Fox. The inning ended with two runners on base and Haverford trailing 3-2, and that would be as close as the score would get for the home team.

The Ospreys pushed six runs, two were unearned, across the plate in the top of the third off Haverford starter Jonny Williams, then rode the arm of starting pitcher Gage Mick to the win.

Mick (2-0) went all nine innings for the Ospreys to earn the win, allowing just five more base runners after the opening frame.

Williams (1-3) experienced a rough outing for the Fords in taking the loss but Jonny Black came on in relief in the third and threw 5.1 innings of scoreless ball, surrendering just one single and a pair of walks while fanning three.

Matt Liscovitz singled and doubled during the game and Bobby Hubley picked up the Fords' other hit in the contest with his fourth-inning single to left.

The Fords will face 15th-ranked Rowan University in their next outing, a non-conference game against the Profs at Kannerstein Field on Friday at 3:30 p.m.
