Win streak ends, but baseball remains in top 25

HAVERFORD, Pa. – A 2-2 week on the diamond wasn't enough to dampen the enthusiasm for Haverford College's baseball team which slipped a few rungs but maintained a hold on top-25 rankings in both the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) and D3baseball.com national polls.

The ABCA poll saw the Fords slip eight spots from last week's ranking to No. 21 in the April 2 release, while D3baseball.com pushed Haverford back just four spots to No. 25.

Haverford extended its record-setting win streak to 14 games with mid-week wins over visiting Wesley College and host Penn State-Berks, but the unbeaten string came to an end Saturday afternoon at home where 11th-ranked Johns Hopkins University was able to steal a pair of Centennial Conference wins at Kannerstein Field.

The Fords are back in action Tuesday with a visit to Centennial rival Swarthmore College then entertain Moravian College on Wednesday at 4 p.m. in a non-conference match-up at Kannerstein. The second game of the split double-header against Swarthmore takes place Friday afternoon with the Garnet making the short trip to Haverford for a 3:30 p.m. tilt.
