2017 Haverford Baseball Schedule

HAVERFORD, Pa. – The 2017 Haverford College baseball team's schedule has been released as the Fords look to win a second consecutive Centennial Conference Championship and a fourth in the last six years. The program faces a challenging non-conference slate before Centennial action begins in earnest in early April.

Last season, the team's 28 victories were the second most in program history behind the 2011 team which finished 32-10 overall. The Fords have made the Centennial Conference Tournament in each of the past nine seasons and 11 of the past 12 years overall.

Head Coach Dave Beccaria has established a tradition of winning during his tenure, compiling an overall record of 351-251-3. Those 351 victories rank as the most by a single manager in program history. Including his three Centennial Conference Championships, the Fords have played for the conference title seven times during his tenure. Six of those conference championship appearances have come in the past seven seasons.

The Fords return seven of their 10 players who started at least 20 games in 2016 as a part of the everyday lineup. That list includes four all-conference players who still have at least two more seasons with the Fords (Sam Partee, first-team All-CC; Ethan Lee-Tyson, second-team All-CC; Ben Furlong HM All-CC, and Spencer Sohmer, Honorable Mention All-CC).

Haverford will begin the season with the annual spring break jaunt to Ft. Myers, Fla. from March 5-11, with nine games against opponents to be announced.

The Fords will then return to the Keystone State to play at Immaculata (Mar. 14) before opening up the home portion of the schedule at Kannerstein Field against DeSales (Mar. 15). The Fords play a Friday contest at Gwynedd Mercy (Mar. 17) and return home to host a College World Series team in St. John Fisher for a doubleheader the next day (Mar. 18).

Eastern (Mar. 21) and Widener (Mar. 22) visit Haverford for midweek contests, then the Fords head up to Coney Island for a doubleheader at MCU Park against NYU (Mar. 25). The non-conference portion of the schedule winds down with a trip to Rowan (Mar. 28) and a home midweek contest with NCAA regional participant TCNJ (Mar. 30).

April brings Centennial Conference play as McDaniel visits Kannerstein Field for a doubleheader (Apr. 1). The Fords host Ursinus (Apr. 4) and travel to Alvernia (Apr. 5) and Ursinus (Apr. 7) before hosting Franklin & Marshall for a doubleheader (Apr. 8). The Fords head to Chestertown, Md. for a midweek contest with Washington College (Apr. 12) and host the Shoremen later in the week (Apr. 14).

In a rematch of the Centennial Conference championship, Haverford travels to Johns Hopkins for a doubleheader (Apr. 15) before hosting Muhlenberg (Apr. 18). The Fords head to Allentown to take on the Mules (Apr. 21) and return to host Dickinson in a doubleheader (Apr. 22). Haverford contests the Hood Trophy series at Swarthmore (Apr. 25) and home against the Garnet (Apr. 28). The final regular season series of the season is a doubleheader at Gettysburg (Apr. 29).

The Centennial Conference playoffs begin May 4 with the semifinals slated for May 6 and the final slated for May 7.
