SAAC Profile: Michael Schwarze '18

Michael Schwarze is our newest SAAC Featured Student-Athlete. A junior on the baseball team, Schwarze is a highly visible presence in the Haverford community, both on and off the diamond.

What is your major/minor/concentration?
I'm an economics major and a psychology minor.

Outside of baseball, what else are you involved in here at Haverford?
Outside of baseball, I participate in a few clubs, but mainly the Bi-College Newspaper and the Haverford College Republicans. The Bi-College Newspaper is especially fun because I can play around with a few of my business strategies and thoughts.

Any interesting work experience this past summer?
This past summer, I worked for the Haverford Partnership for Economic Development as a part of the Whitehead Internship Program. It was a great experience as I learned a lot about business operations and market analysis. I was also able to live at Haverford with some great people in Apartment 26.

What is your favorite memory while playing baseball for Haverford?
My favorite memory thus far has been winning the Centennial Conference at Hopkins last year. We had a great team and it was fun to see it all come together during the last couple weeks.

Talk a little bit about how you've taken advantage of the strength and conditioning resources.
Cory and Nat have done a fantastic job of transforming the strength and conditioning program during my time here. They are an excellent resource if I need assistance with a lift or just to hear out my thoughts on something. It's not a surprise that our testing numbers have been getting progressively better over the years. Also, TeamBuildr is a great guide for our workouts and our team has really improved because of it.
