In lieu of varsity athletic contests while the College engages in distance learning, Haverford Athletics has dug into the archives. Our "Fords Flashback" will be profiling classic games from recent history.
April 5, 2014
Settling in for the weekend? Today's Fords Flashback can fill a large void of that time as the Haverford College baseball team won a 17-16 classic in 16 innings during the 2014 season. In addition to the 33 runs scored, the teams combined for 50 hits as the game reached its conclusion right at the five hour and 31-minute mark as then-sophomore George Hatamiya '16 delivered a walk-off single to score Nicky Miranda '14. That game-winning RBI came on the 566th pitch of the afternoon. There must have been something special about extra innings that year for the Fords as they eventually went on to capture the Centennial Conference Championship that season with a 2-1 win against Gettysburg in 12 innings.
