Full Centennial Conference Release

HAVERFORD, Pa. - Haverford sophomore pitcher Mike Rabayda (Richboro, Pa.) and junior infielder Zach Becker (Westminster, Colo.) have been named the CC Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively, the conference office announced in its weekly awards release on Tuesday morning.

Rabayda tossed six no-hit innings as the Fords combined to take a no-hit bid into the ninth inning against Washington College at home on Friday. The Richboro, Pa. product worked around a one-out walk in the first frame before setting down the next 15 batters he faced. The dominating stretch included eight of his nine total strikeouts in the contest. Impressively, all nine strikeouts on Friday were swinging strikeouts, as Rabayda consistently missed bats throughout his six innings on the mound.

Becker was a force offensively for the Fords in a 4-0 week as Haverford jumped to second place in Centennial Conference standings. He logged multi-hit games in all four starts, including a four-hit day in the second game of Haverford's doubleheader with McDaniel. He scored three runs in an offensive showcase against Washington College on Tuesday, setting the tone for a .556/.619/.611 slash line for the Colorado native. Becker scored six times, stole two bases and drove in a pair of runs on the week.

The Fords have vaulted to a 5-1 start to Centennial Conference play, winning five straight, the current longest win streak among Centennial squads. Haverford will put that stellar CC record on the line against Hood Trophy rival Swarthmore beginning on Tuedsay as the home-and-home series with the Garnet comes to Kannerstein Field for a 3:30 p.m. first pitch.
