Three Named All-Conference For Baseball

Full All-Centennial Conference Release

HAVERFORD, Pa. - The Haverford College baseball team had three players named to second-team All-Centennial Conference honors, the conference office announced in a release on Thursday. Senior infielder/catcher Zach Buck joined sophomore pitcher Mike Rabayda and first year catcher/outfielder Anthony Runfola on the All-Conference squad. 

Buck, of Ashburn, Va., thrived in his first full season with the Fords after transferring from Division I Holy Cross. Proving to be a threat in the middle of the Haverford order, Buck appeared in 34 games, logging a .280 batting average with five home runs, 24 RBI and 22 runs scored. He posted nine multi-hit games, including a four-hit game with two doubles and three RBI against Gettysburg (Apr. 16). 

Rabayda, of Richboro, Pa. (5-4) emerged as one of the top pitchers in the Centennial Conference with a dominating sophomore campaign. In his first full season of collegiate action, Rabayda made 12 appearances on the mound, all starts, leading the CC in that category. He finished second in the Centennial with 93 strikeouts, and paced that grouping with 13.22 strikeouts per nine innings. Rabayda had 10 starts with five or more strikeouts, reaching double digits on two occasions, 12 in a start against Hiram (Mar. 11) and a career-best 13 in just six innings against Gettysburg (Apr. 16). Against Washington College on April 8, Rabayda tossed six no-hit innings holding the Shoremen off guard with just one walk and nine strikeouts.  He was named Centennial Conference Pitcher of The Week following that preformance. 

Runfola earned second-team honors with a stellar rookie campaign that began with a flourish as the Phoenix, Ariz. product was named the NCBWA Division III National Rookie of the Week after a week in which he hit .636 (7-for-11) with two home runs, three runs scored, 10 RBI, and a .714 on-base percentage. He registered at least one RBI in all five contests that week on Haverford's spring break trip to Fort Myers, Fla.. In total, he finished with a .346 batting average, notching 38 RBI, scoring 20 runs and stealing four bases on the season. Runfola split time between the dish and in right field, and appeared in 36 of 37 games, with six runners caught stealing in 17 appearances at catcher. 

Senior catcher Will Vostrejs, also a winner of  A.W. "Pop" Haddleton Award, was named to the Centennial Conference All-Sportsmanship Team in his final season at Haverford.
