Baseball Takes Home 2021-22 ABCA Academic Team Award

Full ABCA Release

HAVERFORD, Pa. - The Haverford College baseball program has once again earned inclusion into the ranks of the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) Team Academic Excellence Award recipients, the organization announced on Wednesday. More than 420 collegiate programs were recognized with this year's award.

The ABCA's Team Academic Excellence Award honors high school and college programs coached by ABCA members that maintain at least a 3.0 GPA throughout the 2021-22 academic year. Since the award was first presented following the 2015-16 academic year, the Fords have achieved this recognition during each year in which the award was presented.

The American Baseball Coaches Association has a long tradition of recognizing the achievements of baseball coaches and student-athletes. The ABCA/Rawlings All-America Teams are the nation's oldest, founded in 1949, and the ABCA's awards program also includes the ABCA/Rawlings All-Region Awards, the ABCA/ATEC Regional & National Coaches of the Year and several other major awards such as the ABCA Hall of Fame and the Dave Keilitz Ethics in Coaching Award.

The American Baseball Coaches Association, founded in 1945, is the primary professional organization for baseball coaches at the amateur level. Its nearly 13,000 members represent all 50 states and 33 countries. Since its initial meeting of 27 college baseball coaches in June 1945, Association membership has broadened to include eight divisions: NCAA Division I, II and III, NAIA, NJCAA, Pacific Association Division, High School and Youth.

Earlier this spring, Haverford placed 11 members of the 2022 squad on the Centennial Conference Spring Academic Honor Roll, as Luke Smith, Thomas Coleman, August Williams, Zach Crampton, Zach Becker, Zach Buck, Zach Landry, Eric Kopczynski, Will Vostrejs, Mike Rabayda, and Mitchell Pagano all earned the recognition.
