Four Named CSC Academic All-District For Baseball

HAVERFORD, Pa. - The Haverford College baseball team placed four student-athletes on the 2023 College Sports Communicators Academic All-District team, the organization announced on Tuesday. 

The 2022-23 Academic All-District® Baseball Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the diamond and in the classroom. Seniors Zach Landry, Zach Becker, and August Williams joined sophomore Pranav Rane in earning the honor for Haverford.

Landry, a team captain and Mathematics major from Dallas, Texas, was a career .309 hitter for the Fords, logging 92 RBI, nine career homers, and 134 total hits while scoring 96 runs. This season, he slashed .287/.447/.443 and tallied 11 extra base hits in his 122 at-bats. 

Becker, a senior from Westminster, Colorado, is also a Mathematics major, and hit .321 in his Haverford career with 110 hits and 57 RBI. This season, he appeared in 40 games, adding 13 extra base hits and stealing 12 bases for the Fords. 

Williams, a Political Science major and team captain from Bellingham, Wash. appeared in 27 career games for the Fords, making nine starts on the mound. In total, he tossed 67 innings and struck out 78, for a K/9 of 10.48. This season, he appeared in eight contests, logging one start striking out 14 batters in 15 innings of work.

Rane, of Potomac, Md.  had a breakout sophomore campaign for the Fords, appearing in 33 of 40 games and slashing a .278/.400/.340 line. He added 27 hits, three triples, and 18 RBI while stealing three bases. 

The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes baseball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.

Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced on June 7.
