BRYN MAWR, Pa. – Senior Catherine Aronowitz tied a school record with four goals as the Haverford College field hockey team (6-8, 2-5 CC) defeated the Bryn Mawr College Owls (2-11, 0-8 CC) 7-1 at Shillingford Field on a rainy Wednesday afternoon.

It's Aronowitz's fifth multi-goal game of her career. Her four goals ties a school-record set by three other players. Mary Hobbs '13 was the last Ford to reach the milestone during the 2011 season. Aronowitz's nine points is tied for second all-time for points in a game and her 60 career points is now 12th in program history.

Haverford had two penalty strokes in the first 10 minutes of game action, but could not convert. The Fords' offense kept up the pressure, registering nine shots on goal in the first stanza in addition to five penalty corners.

Head coach Jackie Cox's team got on the board in the 11th minute when Aronowitz, along the left post, got one by the Bryn Mawr goaltender for her fourth goal of the season. In the 25th minute, sophomore Natalie Leslie scored her second career goal to make the score 2-0. Aronowitz added her second goal of the game off a rebound from junior Brenna Boehman's shot just a few minutes before halftime.

Aronowitz completed the hat trick, setting a new career high in the 37th minute, while freshman Paige Carson had her fourth goal of the year in the 39th minute and finished with three points in the victory. Aronowitz added to her career mark with a fourth goal in the 50th minute.

The Fords held the Owls to five shots on goal. Sophomore Abby Frerotte made four saves to record her first career victory. Junior Allison Martin had a goal, an assist and a defensive save in the win. Ashley Arbuckle scored the only goal for the Owls in the loss.

The seniors on the field hockey team will be honored before its next game vs. McDaniel on Saturday at Swan Field. The game is scheduled for 1 p.m.
