LANCASTER, Pa. – The Haverford College field hockey team (7-4, 3-2 CC) fought valiantly against the No. 6 Franklin and Marshall Diplomats (10-2, 6-0 CC), but ultimately fell, 3-0 at Tylus Field on Saturday afternoon.

The Diplomats showed why they are ranked as a top-ten team in the country as they got on the board a minute into the contest. Off a penalty corner, Maria Guarisco found Bridget Falcone at the top of the circle, who riffled the ball in the back of the cage. The Fords had their first scoring threat in the 12th minute, but sophomore Paige Carson's shot was saved by F&M's Ilianna Santangelo. Haverford registered a penalty corner in the 29th minute, but couldn't get a shot off before the ball was cleared.

Franklin & Marshall started the second half with a flurry. After three penalty corners and three shots, Lauren Eastman gave the home team an insurance tally in the 45th minute. The Diplomats tacked on another goal in the 61st minute after Tamara Mills tapped one in off a rebound.

In her second career start, Fords' goalie Abby Frerotte made six saves in the loss. Three different Diplomats scored while Guarisco had two assists.

Haverford will travel to Rowan on Monday (7 p.m.) to wrap up non-conference play before welcoming Johns Hopkins next Saturday (12 p.m.)  to Swan Field.
