GLASSBORO, N.J. - The Haverford College field hockey team lost its final non-conference game of the year, 6-2, to the Rowan University Profs at Coach Wacker Stadium on Monday evening.

Sophomore Elena Veale scored her eighth goal of the season to get the scoring started in the sixth minute. The sophomore recorded her 12th career goal as her attempt trickled past the Rowan goalkeeper Carly DeMarco. Rowan would tie up the contest in the 23rd minute as Jenna Pressler shot a loose ball in the back of the cage.

Two minutes later, junior Nicole Witte found some open space in front of the goal and shot the ball past DeMarco to put the Fords in front, 2-1. Rowan's Sam Browne quickly tied it up two minutes after off a rebound. Johanna James gave the Profs a 3-2 lead before halftime in the 31st minute. The back and forth play between the two teams in first half featured five goals, 18 shots and seven penalty corners.

Browne scored the Profs' fourth goal of the game three minutes into the second half with help from Pressler. She completed the hat trick in the 66th minute off a deflection from Jacqui Rosati. Marisa Marini wrapped up the scoring in a scramble in front of the cage with no time remaining.

With her eight goals, Veale is tied for sixth in the Centennial Conference. Sophomore Malin Ehrsam and senior Rachel Grunden secured their first career defensive saves in the contest. Six different Fords registered a shot in the game.

With the loss, Haverford dropped to 7-5 on the season while Rowan improved to 8-4 overall. Head coach Jackie Cox's squad will take on Johns Hopkins on Saturday at Swan Field beginning at noon.
