HAVERFORD, Pa. – For a second straight week, the Haverford College field hockey team is receiving votes in the weekly National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Poll, the organization announced in a release on Tuesday afternoon.

The Fords are one of five unranked squads to receive votes in the latest Top 20. For comparison, No. 20 Colby moves into the ranking this week with 178 total voting points. Haverford checks in with 108 voting points.

On Saturday, the Fords locked horns with the No. 2 team in the nation, Rowan, on the Glassboro, N.J. campus of the Profs. Haverford proved its mettle in a narrow 1-0 loss, providing defensive intensity from start to finish while Sunny Truslow made a career-best six saves in goal. Haverford surrendered its only goal on a corner after the first half buzzer had expired.

In the latest NCAA statistical release, Haverford ranks 15th in the nation in goals per game (4.0) and 15th in scoring margin (3.0). A well rounded offensive effort has also seen Haverford average 2.6 assists per contest, the 18th best mark in Division III. Defensively, the Fords rank 25th in goals against average (1.0) and 26th in shutouts per game (.40).

Individually, junior Ariana Sulpizio remains among the top offensive players in the nation, averaging 2.6 points per game, good for 27th in Division III. Truslow is also 27th in goals against average (1.0).

The Fords next return to action on Wednesday, hosting Juniata (2-3) for a 7 p.m. first pass on Swan Field. Non-conference play wraps up with Haverford heading to Misericordia for a matinee on Saturday, September 21. First pass is slated for 1 p.m.
