Signature Wins: The Haverford College field hockey team jetted out to a 4-0 start to begin the 2019 season, starting the campaign in earnest with an offensive outburst against Immaculata in a 9-0 victory (Aug. 30). In the contest, Haverford scored its most goals in a single game since 2014 and matched the second-most assists in program history with eight helpers. Ariana Sulpizio has four goals and a pair of assists in the win. The Fords then went on to complete a perfect early-season homestand, taking vital non-conference victories over Alvernia (Sept. 1) and Cabrini (Sept. 4). Haverford dispatched Eastern in a hard-fought 3-2 victory on the road (Sept. 7), earning Jackie Cox the 100th victory of her career at the helm of the Fords. The hot start was then noticed on the national landscape, as Haverford was receiving votes in the national coaches poll heading into a showdown with No. 2 Rowan in Glassboro, N.J. Haverford impressed in that contest under the lights, falling 1-0 after allowing just an untimed corner goal at the end of the first half. The Fords once again showed offensive prowess in a convincing 7-3 conference victory at home against Washington College (Oct. 17), as Roxy Vassighi tallied a pair of goals and added four assists, the most in program single-game history. In the final contest of the season, Haverford prevailed in a thriller over rival Swarthmore (Nov. 2), securing a point in the Hood Trophy series as Ravenel Davis tallied the game-winning goal with less than two minutes remaining in regulation on Swan Field.

Season Notes: The Fords had 18 Centennial Conference Academic Honor Roll recipients, the most in the Centennial Conference … Haverford received votes in the NFHCA poll for the first time since the 2015 season and tallied votes in three consecutive releases of the weekly poll …The Haverford defense was the only squad aside from national champion Middlebury, and national semifinalist Johns Hopkins to hold eventual national runner-up Franklin & Marshall to one goal or less in a contest … Haverford registered its eighth consecutive home victory over Swarthmore in the season finale … The Fords went 7-2 at home, matching the most wins on the Swan Field turf since 2012 … Vassighi tallied four assists in the win over Washington College, marking just the 10th time in conference history that a player has reached that mark in a single game … Leela Krishnan finished with eight total defensive saves, tied for the 15th-best total in Division III.
Looking Ahead: Haverford looks to be in a strong position for a trip to the Centennial Conference tournament, as the team returns much of its offensive firepower, with the scorers of 36 of the squad's 41 total goals this season returning in 2020. Haverford's top seven point-totalers all return, as seniors Sulpizio and Vassighi headline that grouping as a formidable tandem on the attacking line … Versatile defenders Leela Krishnan, Kelsey Chai, and Allyson Lynch are back for their senior campaigns after the team registered 14 defensive saves and allowed just 26 goals in 2019 … Goalkeeper Sunny Truslow will enter her senior season after holding opponents to just a 1.57 GAA in her 15 starts.
