HAVERFORD, Pa. – The National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) announced its annual academic awards in a release on Wednesday afternoon. The Fords again picked up the Division III National Academic Team Award, taking home that recognition for the 14th consecutive campaign. Field Hockey also had 23 members of the team chosen to the Division III National Academic Squad.

Haverford was one of 147 programs in Division III to earn the National Academic Team Award. The Division III National Academic Team Award recognizes programs that earned a team grade-point average of 3.0 or higher during the fall semester of the 2019-20 school year. The Division III National Academic Squad program recognizes those field hockey student-athletes who have achieved a cumulative grade-point average of 3.3 or higher through the first semester of the 2019-20 academic year. In total, 1,943 student-athletes from 157 institutions were honored.

Haverford was represented on the National Academic Squad by four-time honorees Caroline Aronowitz, Rylee Fennell, Rachel Gordon, and Lucy Tortolani. Three-time honorees to earn the plaudit were Kelsey Chai, Maura Herbertson, Emma Iacobucci, Leela Krishnan, Allyson Lynch, Carolin Schmidt, Ariana Sulpizio, and Sunny Truslow. Second-time honorees were Caroline Channell, Ravenel Davis, Amanda Grebas, Sophia Mercado, Julie Post, and Keishla Sanchez. First-time winners included Dalia Bercow, Sophie Frem, Lexie Streicher, Hannah Roth, and Casey Wakai. The academic awards followed Haverford's 18 Centennial Conference Honor Roll selections, the most in the conference.

In a memorable 2019 season, Haverford received votes in the NFHCA poll for the first time since the 2015 season and were ranked in three consecutive releases of that weekly poll. The Fords went 7-2 at home, matching the most wins on the Swan Field turf since 2012.
