HAVERFORD, Pa. - The Haverford College field hockey program has unveiled its 2022 schedule, a slate that features 17 total regular season games and 7 home contests at Swan Field. In 2021, the Fords made waves with a great campaign that captivated the campus community, entering the national and regional rankings while coming just one win shy of matching the program's single-season wins record. Haverford notched a pair of ranked wins over No. 8 Rowan and No. 18 Franklin & Marshall and won 13 of the first 15 contests overall. Haverford also made its first appearance in the CC tournament since a semifinal trip during the 2017 season, and its ninth postseason appearance overall.
The 2022 schedule kicks off with the annual alumnae game on Saturday, August 27 before their final scrimmage away against York (Pa.) on Sunday, August 28.
The regular season begins on Thursday, September 1 for a home opener against Alvernia. In the same week, the Fords make the short trip to St. Davids to battle Eastern on Labor Day weekend (Sept. 3). The team returns home to Swan Field on Wednesday, September 7 for a matchup with Stockton. For the majority of September, the Fords are back on the road. Haverford plays five consecutive away games as they take on Christopher Newport (Sept. 10), DeSales (Sept. 12), Elizabethtown (Sept. 14), and Rowan (Sept. 17), before completing the two weeks of travels with the Centennial Conference opener against McDaniel (Sat. 24). The Fords will enjoy seeing familiar faces in the stands when they return to Swan Field on Saturday, September 28 to battle Bryn Mawr.
A two-game road trip then comes right in the heart of conference play as Haverford takes on perennial powers Johns Hopkins (Oct. 1) and Franklin & Marshall (Oct. 5). The Fords follow the road trip up with back-to-back home games against Dickinson (Oct. 8) and Muhlenberg (Oct. 12) before traveling to Maryland for a midweek matchup with Washington College (Oct. 19)
The Fords play two more home games to close out the month. Haverford takes on Gettysburg for Senior Day (Oct. 22) before the team's home finale against Ursinus on Wednesday, October 26. The regular season comes to a close when the Fords travel to take on rivals Swarthmore on Saturday, October 29.
The Centennial Conference tournament begins with first-round competition (Nov. 1) before the semifinals and finals (Nov. 4-5).
