HAVERFORD, Pa. - The Haverford College field hockey team was well represented on the All-Centennial Conference teams, the conference office announced in a release on Tuesday afternoon. Junior attacker/ midfielder Naomi York (Coronado, Calif.) joined senior midfielder Rachel Marlin (Midlothian, Va.) on the All-Centennial second team, while sophomore forward Erica Pardón (Ocean Township, N.J.) earned honorable mention recognition.
This is Haverford's first season since the nationally ranked breakout team in 2021 to have three or more players earn All-CC honors.
York was seemingly everywhere for the Fords during her junior campaign, starting in all 18 games. She logged four goals and three assists on 37 total shots, putting 27 of those attempts on frame. She notched the game-winning penalty stroke in the win over No. 24 Swarthmore that put the Fords into the Centennial Conference playoffs. On the penalty corner defense, York was integral, with a pair of defensive saves to her ledger.
Marlin took a big step forward in her senior campaign, starting in all 18 games for the Fords with three goals and two assists. She logged 11 shots, putting nine on frame, and tallied the game-winner in a signature win against No. 10 Bryn Mawr on October 16, helping the Fords knock off the rival Owls at Swan Field.
Pardón continued to be an offensive force for Haverford in her sophomore campaign, starting 17 of 18 contests and knocking in a team-best seven goals while tallying four assists. She added 46 shots, putting 31 on frame, and had three game-winning strikes, including the eventual deciders against Eastern (Aug. 31), Dickinson (Sept. 28), and Susquehanna (Oct. 2).
In addition to the placements on the All-Centennial teams, Ileana Rodriguez (Arlington, Texas) was named to the CC All-Sportsmanship Team. Rodriguez was a stalwart starter during her senior season for the Scarlet and Black, logging starts in all 18 contests and tallying three goals. Rodriguez added the game-winning tally against Stockton on September 4.
Ursinus highlighted the Centennial Conference Field Hockey end-of-year awards. Mary Lauren Franz earned Offensive Player of the Year, while Maeve Montgomery claimed Defensive Player of the Year. The Bears also swept the Coaching Staff of the Year award. Swarthmore's Kala Fink was named CC Rookie of the Year.
The 2024 season was a major stride forward for the Scarlet and Black. Competing in one of Division III's toughest field hockey conferences, Haverford posted a 10-8 overall record and went 6-4 in the Centennial Conference, clinching their first playoff berth since 2022 and third in four seasons. Head Coach Jackie Cox and the team are eager to build on this momentum heading into 2025.
